This project provides energy rate arbitrage for Grocery Outlet stores in Mckinleyville, Eureka, Anderson, and Clearlake. The newly installed Tesla battery stores renewable energy and then sells that same energy back to PG&E’s grid during peak times. Additionally, the battery system provides power to the stores in case of a utility outage. With the Tesla batteries now providing backup battery power, these Grocery Outlet locations can run their freezers and refrigerators during a blackout or a brownout protecting their products from spoiling or becoming unsellable. In fact, the entire store can now run off the Tesla battery without being on PG&E’s grid.
